The South ViewPoints
Leaving the Meloneras area, famous for the Maspalomas Lighthouse and its hotels, we warm up for about 14 kilometers through the Ayagaures valley before starting the beautiful ascent to the Pedro González viewpoint, located about 500 meters above sea level. A photo at this point on the route, capturing the deep valleys and panoramic views of the arid landscape, is a must.
After a gentle descent through the houses of Monte León, we head toward the second and equally important climb of the route: La Degollada de Las Yeguas. This astronomical viewpoint, situated at 470 meters above sea level, is one of the most famous climbs chosen by cyclists from all around the world.
Its gentle yet relentless slopes make this cycling pass a spectacular ascent that rewards those who reach the top with unmatched views of the southern face of Gran Canaria and its most significant valleys. From the golden dunes of Maspalomas to the imposing Pico de las Nieves, every cyclist falls in love once they conquer this peak. To conclude the route, we will descend back down the same slope to the Meloneras area, where the gastronomic offerings and its golden sandy beaches will provide the perfect ending to an unforgettable day of cycling.
